'Thoonga Nagaram' is an offbeat film which happens to be the first direct production of Dayanidhi Azhagiri's Cloud Nine Movies in collaboration with Vivek Rathnavel. Music has been scored by Sundar C Babu and more than 70 new faces have been introduced in this movie.
The movie's director Gaurav, apart from handling the direction part, had also played a pivotal role as one of the four leads. The movie bags Kalavani fame Vimal, debutant Gaurav (director), Renigunta fame Nishanth, Bharani of Kalloori and Nadodiagl fame and actress Anjali as heroine.

The story revolves around four youngsters who migrate to Madurai from small towns and villages in the outskirts of Madurai for earning money. All the four happen to meet each other and later get set as a gang of friends. A sudden twist changes their lives and they come to know the date of their death.
